House Committee Addresses GHG Bill
Mark-up is underway for bill preventing greenhouse gas regulations.

Representative Fred Upton, R-Mich., chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, led a committee hearing that focused on the Markup of H.R. 910, legislation barring the EPA from regulating greenhouse gas emissions. Upton says they are putting the brakes on runaway federal government.
"If we allow the Environmental Protection Agency to ignore the will of Congress and move forward with its global warming regulatory agenda, I believe the economic hole we are digging will only crater further," Upton said. "Part of EPA's agenda is its proposal to regulate carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions from domestic refiners. At hearings on this bill, EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson was hazy on what requirements she planned to impose in the final version of this rule. But to suggest that such a policy will not raise the cost of refining oil into gasoline and ultimately the price at the pump is flat-out wrong."
There are a host of reasons to support H.R. 910, Upton says, but the main one is that this bill says "stop" to an EPA attempting to impose policies that are not affordable and that will destroy jobs. Upton says passing this bill will put Congress back in charge of setting the energy and environmental policies that will allow our nation to create jobs, bring down prices at the pump, and make America more secure and energy independent.
