The House Agriculture Committee adopted a resolution Thursday that calls for 25% of U.S. energy needs to be met by renewable sources by 2025. The 25x'25 measure will move to the House Energy and Natural Resource committees next, and is pending in the Senate.

Lead sponsors of the measure were Ag Committee Chairman Collin Peterson, D-Minn., and Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., along with Mark Udall, D-Co., and Zach Wamp, R-Tenn. Senate lead sponsors include Ken Salazar, D-Co., Charles Grassley. R-Iowa, Richard Lugar, R-Ind., Barack Obama, D-Ill., Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., and Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Tom Harkin, D-Iowa.
