Grassley Speaks Out on RFS and Farm Bill
Senator says livestock groups need to back off of the RFS and that a Farm Bill is doable.

Senator Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, says he hopes the people who are anti-ethanol have satisfied their desire to make their point with what all they have done negatively with ethanol already this year. He says he would also like to see them 'lay off' the Renewable Fuel Standard.
"There is some talk from livestock groups that want to go after the RFS," Grassley said. "I think that is going to be a little more difficult for them to do that. Then there is the rider on the appropriations bill from the House that would strike the E15 provision that I think we can stop."
Concerning getting a Farm Bill put together in the Senate Agriculture Committee, Senator Grassley says he sees that as doable.
"As long as you accept the proposition that there is going to be less money spent on the agricultural program," Grassley said. "Also less interest given to various parts of our country, you know rice and cotton versus corn and soybeans, and the South versus the rest of the country. It looks like some of that is being taken care of by the reality of the budget process. Then I think you are going to have more unanimity, because quite frankly for people like Senator (Richard) Lugar (R-Ind.), as an example of someone who was more free market than most people on the committee, it even brings him around to more unanimity on what ought to be done."
