Grants Will Develop International Collaboration in Science and Education

USDA makes $2.2 million in grants.
Compiled by staff
Published: Sep 9, 2008

USDA has awarded $2.2 million to 23 institutions in 18 states to allow them greater capability to conduct collaborative research, extension and teaching on an international level.

"Agriculture is a global industry, and the science of agriculture depends on international partnerships to advance domestic priorities," says Agriculture Under Secretary for Research, Education and Economics Gale Buchanan. "These grants will support influential innovations in agriculture-related programs that help prepare world class students, faculty, staff, community members and business people for the 21st century."

The grant program, which is being administered by USDA's Cooperative State Research, Education and Economics Service, is designed to strengthen the global competitiveness of students, faculty and staff in agriculture and related areas and enhance business performance in international agriculture.
