The Midwest Governors Association has written to Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Stephen Johnson asking to uphold the Renewable Fuel Standard and not grant waivers of the ethanol blending requirements.
Texas and Connecticut have requested that EPA waive the blending, citing those requirements as a cause of high food prices. However; the association says that is not true and that ethanol is not to blame for rising food prices.
EPA has to issue a decision on the waiver request within 90 days of receiving it.
