FFA State Officers to Visit Argentina

Ten-day trip will offer opportunity to learn about ag operations in other countries.

FFA's International Leadership Seminar will take place January 4-14, 2011, when 66 state FFA officers will journey to Argentina to experience agriculture in an entire new setting. The officers are scheduled to tour one of Argentina's largest port terminals in San Martin and various livestock, corn, soybean, wheat and poultry operations throughout the country. The group will also have an opportunity to visit Iguazu National Park and Devils Throat, the largest national falls in the country.

The group will also visit the Argentina office of USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service; take a cruise on the Parana River to experience port and industries of the area; and visit Puerto Iguazu to witness the confluence of the rivers and the Paraguay and Brazilian coasts. The trip is sponsored by Bunge North America as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.

Shane Jacques, program manager of state officer programs for the National FFA Organization, says through this trip, state officers will be able to learn a great deal about agricultural operations and global contributions of other countries. Agriculture is global, and this trip highlights that point to the students.
