USDA's Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration will hold meetings in Arkansas, Iowa and Georgia this month on implementation of the 2008 Farm Bill. The meetings will let the public provide comments and recommendations related to the swine and poultry industries. GIPSA will use this input to write the regulations needed to implement certain sections of the bill.
GIPSA asks attendees to be prepared to discuss the specific provisions, the problems Congress needs to address through the Farm Bill and possible regulatory solutions that would correct those problems. The Administration wants participants to discuss potential benefits and costs of their recommendations as well.
A meeting will be held at the Crawford County Cooperative Extension Office in Van Buren, Arkansas on Oct. 14. Iowa State University's Scheman Building in Ames, Iowa will host a meeting on Oct. 16. On Oct. 22 the Hall County FSA Building in Gainesville, Georgia will hold the meeting. Each meeting is scheduled for two hours and begins at 6:00 p.m.
