Farm Bill Hearings Scheduled
Additional farm bill hearings scheduled for later in May.

The House Agriculture Committee begins a series of field hearings today to hear from people about U.S. farm policy in advance of writing the 2012 Farm Bill. Chairman Collin Peterson, D-Minn, will gavel the first hearing to order in Des Moines, Iowa at 1:00 p.m. CDT, at the Iowa State Fair Grounds. Other hearings are scheduled for Nampa, Idaho; Fresno, California; and Cheyenne, Wyoming. A second series of field hearings will be held May 14-18 in Morrow, Georgia; Troy, Alabama; Lubbock, Texas; and Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
For those who cannot attend the hearings, the House Agriculture Committee plans to provide live video coverage of each hearing on the Committee's website: http://agriculture.house.gov/hearings/audio.html. The Committee will also collect public comments about the Farm Bill on its Web site. All comments received online by June 14, 2010 will be included in the Committee's Farm Bill field hearing record.
Saturday's field hearing will be held at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho, beginning at 1:00 p.m. MDT. Monday's hearing begins at 9:00 a.m. PDT in the Fresno City Hall Council Chambers in Fresno, California. Then Tuesday's meeting begins at 8:00 a.m. MDT in Cheyenne, Wyoming at Laramie County Community College.
