The Senate voted 56-43 Thursday morning in favor of the Grassley-Dorgan amendment to the Farm Bill. However, the Senate had invoked the 60-vote rule to prevent a possible filibuster, so the amendment has been withdrawn for consideration in the farm bill. Sponsored by Senators Charles Grassley, R-Iowa and Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., the amendment would have set a hard cap of $250,000 dollars on farm payments.
