Published: Aug 5, 2008

Pork producers have a place to turn for advice and information in tough economic times thanks to a joint project of the Illinois Pork Producers Association and University of Illinois Extension. "Managing Pig Production in Tough Times" is an online program that covers a number of key decision areas for producers.

At the Web site - ippa.ansci.uicu.edu - users will find seven presentations by experts on the respective topics. Among the presenters and topics are: Chris Hurt of Purdue University Extension on price risk, and from the University of Illinois, Rob Knox on reproduction, Larry Firkins on health and employees, Mike Ellis on management, Ted Funk on engineering, Hans Stein on nutrition and James Pettigrew on feeding programs.

Additionally, a special call-in program has been scheduled to deal with questions. The program will be from 7 to 8 p.m. on August 19. Those with questions may dial-in at (800) 347-8268. The meeting's identification number is 6455 and the password is 0819. Questions can be submitted in advance through the web site.
