Pioneer corn event now goes to EU Commission for final approval.
The maize, 1507, has in-seed protection against herbicides and insects. The application was for import and animal feed use. A separate application has also been for growing the variety.
Although Denmark switched to the "pro-biotech" camp, it was still not enough to approve the measure. Luxemborg, Austria and Greece regularly vote against approval. The European Commission now has the power to rubber-stamp approval for the variety. It is expected to do so within the next month or two.
