Ethanol Supply Numbers Reported

RFA urges action on blending wall.
Compiled by staff
Published: Jun 2, 2010

According to information from the Energy Information Administration March 2010 ethanol production averaged more than 847,000 barrels per day. That is an increase of 207,000 barrels over March 2009 and a record pace. The Renewable Fuels Association reports demand reached an all time high of 823,000, up from 644,000 a year ago. There is 23.9 days of domestic reserve.

According to data from the Department of Commerce, Census Bureau and the Department of Agriculture's Foreign Ag Service the United States imported 1.1 million gallons of ethanol in March but exported 48.3 million gallons. That figure includes other spirits, denatured and undenatured ethyl alcohol.

RFA President Bob Dinneen says American ethanol producers continue to answer the call for renewable alternatives to oil in record amounts. Yet America's ability to utilize this renewable alternative is artificially capped while millions of gallons of oil spill into the Gulf of Mexico. Dinneen urges the Obama Administration to move swiftly in approving the use of a higher level of ethanol blends for all vehicles.
