EPA to Form Ag Advisory Board
The Environmental Protection Agency had its first ever meeting with national ag leaders.

After holding its first ever conference with agricultural leaders from across the nation, the Environmental Protection Agency is planning to form a new independent federal advisory board which will deal with agricultural issues.
The three primary issues discussed by attendees at the meeting were: environmental issues facing agriculture in the next 10 years; how the changing face of agriculture will impact the environment; and how EPA can improve its relationship with agricultural producers and get them more involved in environmental protection.
John Scholl, Agricultural Counselor to the EPA Administrator, says that although the new advisory board is not likely to be assembled in time to influence the 2007 Farm Bill, EPA fully intends to keep the advisory board functioning year after year.
Groups represented at the meeting included American Farm Bureau Federation, American Farmland Trust, American Soybean Association, National Corn Growers Association, National Council of Farmer Cooperatives, National Cattlemen's Beef Association, Renewable Fuels Association, National Corn Growers Association.
