As expected, President Bush signed the Energy Independence and Security Act just a day after the House passed it and sent it to his desk. The Energy Bill establishes a mandate of 36 billion gallon of renewable fuel use by 2022, and ups the amount required in 2008 to nine billion gallons.
"This legislative victory would not have been possible without the many renewable fuels advocates who paved the way," says National Corn Growers President Ron Litterer. "This energy bill demonstrates that leaders in both the Democratic and Republican parties clearly understand the future energy needs of this country."
