Easier Pulls on Swisher's Log Splitters

Power equipment maker Swisher makes winter starts easier for wood heat enthusiasts.

For most folks, giving up the sledge hammer and wedge is an easy decision in this age of hydraulic log splitters.

Swisher, which makes 7 models of gasoline and electric-powered hydraulic splitters, has made the coming year's gasoline-powered models even easier to start in cold weather. The cold-weather clutch kicks out the hydraulic system until the engine starts, preventing you from having to pull against the pump and lots of cold hydraulic fluid.

Swishers entire line of log splitters for 2010 includes a cold-weather clutch that bypasses the hydraulic system to make cold starts easier.

All of Swisher's log splitters are built with heavy-duty steel designs that are towable. All come with a five-gallon hydraulic system for sure cooling capacity, and all switch from vertical to horizontal splitting without tools.
