China has the challenge of feeding 20% of the global population with 9% of the global arable land. To help lead the effort to help feed that population, DuPont has named William Niebur to lead its Pioneer Hi-Bred business in China. Niebur previously led DuPont's crop genetics research and development efforts.
Douglas Muzyka, president of DuPont Greater China, says helping China increase its agricultural productivity through better seeds has tremendous potential. Pioneer opened its first seed corn research center in China in 1998. Since then it has created two joint ventures with a strong portfolio of products developed specifically for the local area.
