The G33 group of developing nations is meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia to discuss fair trade proposals.
The countries are hoping to agree on proposals for contentious agricultural issues, such as protective subsidies and opening markets. If they succeed, the talks could help to bring the Doha Round of trade talks back to the table.
However, Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said during the opening talks that rich nations still bear the biggest responsibility in global free - and fair- trade talks. World Trade Organization director-general Pascal Lamy and EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson will attend the talks.
