U.S. corn exports continue to outpace USDA expectations as exports exceeded 902,100 metric tons (35.5 million bushels) for the week ending April 13. Actual sales reached 1.1 million tons (43.4 million bushels), an increase of 35% compared to the week before.
In addition, export commitments are 10% higher than the same week last year. Corn sales for the 2005/06 marketing year are approximately 143 million bushels higher then they were at this time last year.
"According to the USDA reports, South Korea, Mexico and Indonesia were the big buyers this week," notes Ken Hobbie, U.S. Grains Council president and CEO.
