It's easy to hear the frustration in the voices of farmers I talk to, especially those in the eastern Corn Belt. With supplies tightening and planting way behind normal, they wonder why the market isn't paying more notice to their problems.
Patience sometime isn't a virtue in marketing — like when you hold off on sales too long, gambling that prices will rise further to provide once last chance to sell. But time appears to be on the side of producers.
In the short term, a better planting window for corn this week could lead to the usual pullback into late May or early June. But in the long run, corn appears to have plenty of potential to move higher.
