Conservation Technologies Get a Boost

USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service has announced a Conservation Innovation Grants Showcase that aims to demonstration new conservation technologies and approaches. The program will put "novel approaches to conservation on display for the public to see first hand," says Arlen Lancaster, chief, NRCS.
CIG Program grantees will make presentations to the agency's showcase as part of the Soil and Water Conservation Society's Annual Conference July 23 and 24 in Tampa, Fla. The program will provide conservation professionals, long-time supporters and beginning conservationists with the chance to learn about products across the United States.
A voluntary and competitive program, CIG is intended to stimulate the development and adoption of innovation conservation approaches and technologies. The program leverages federal dollars in the environmental, enhancement and protection of natural resources, the agency reports.
CIG is a component of the Environmental Quality Incentives Program with projects funded through a competitive application process on a state and national basis. State and local entities, non-governmental organizations and tribes may apply. To learn more, visit www.nrcs.usda.gov/programs/cig.
