Representative Earl Pomeroy, D-N.D, and House Ag Committee Chairman Collin Peterson, D-Minn., held a forum in Amenia, N.D. Wednesday to gather input from producers on how the current Farm Bill is working and how the farm program can be strengthened in the next Farm Bill.
Pomeroy and Peterson said the discussion with local farm groups gave them important information they'll use to begin drafting the next Farm Bill. A new Farm Bill will be written in the next session of Congress. Pomeroy said this discussion will give the committee a valuable jump-start so that they can identify ways current farm programs are working, as well as any shortcomings, and put together the strongest Farm Bill possible.
