CFTC Nominees Confirmed by Senate Ag Committee

The Senate Agriculture Committee on Wednesday approved the nomination of Walt Lukken, Bart Chilton, and Scott O'Malia to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

"I am pleased we are one step closer to filling the critical vacancies on the Commission," says Ranking Member of the Senate Agriculture Committee Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga. "Congress recently approved legislation as part of the farm bill to reauthorize the CFTC and require changes to the Commodity Exchange Act.  I look forward to full Senate approval of these three well-qualified nominees so they can properly implement those important provisions.  The Commission will be well served if these nominees are confirmed by the Senate."

Lukken was nominated last September to serve as chair of the commission. Chilton and O'Malia were nominated for commissioner positions in April.
