Cattlemen's Beef Board Preparing for Changes

The 2012 Cattlemen's Convention is in full swing at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tenn. Cattlemen's Beef Board chief executive officer Polly Ruhland looked back at 2011 and summed up the past year as busy, with a lot of possible changes following this convention.

"We have been busy bees over 2011," Ruhland said. "We have talked about and revised our bylaws for the first time in many years. Those revisions will be discussed at a business meeting tomorrow (Thursday) at the Cattlemen's Beef Board. We've also talked about and revised our committee structures, which will also be discussed during the Cattlemen's Beef Board meeting. We've been very busy throughout 2011 making changes and shoring up the administrative duties of the Cattlemen's Beef Board."

"We had a meeting where a lot of investor groups came together, their trade associations and policy organizations, just to tell us what they thought about the beef checkoff and how we might improve the beef checkoff," Ruhland said. "That kind of transparency with the checkoff, listening to our investors, is something that I'm very proud of and something that I hope to continue to work on in 2012 and beyond."
