ASA Biotech Working Group to Meet in D.C. Jan. 30-31

The American Soybean Association's Biotech Working Group will meet in Washington, D.C., Jan. 30-31 to discuss developments in the biotech trait approvals process and determine advocacy strategies on behalf of American soybean producers and biotech partner companies.
Formed by ASA in 2007, the Biotech Working Group comprises farmer-leaders and staff from ASA, the United Soybean Board, the U.S. Soybean Export Council, and the major technology companies that are developing new biotech soybean events. The U.S. soybean industry has a robust pipeline of new biotech soybean events under development, and the soy industry and U.S. farmers have much to gain from the commercialization of soybean biotech varieties that increase yield, improve food and feed nutrition, resist disease, offer competition/alternatives in the marketplace, and help in managing weed resistance issues.
Producer members of the Biotech Working Group are: Steve Wellman (Neb., Chairman); Danny Murphy (Miss.); Ray Gaesser (Iowa); James Andrew (Iowa); Rob Joslin (Ohio); Wyatt Whitford (N.C.); Tom Rotello (Texas); Wade Cowan (Texas); Gregg Fujan (Neb.); Annie Dee (Ala.); Keith Kemp (Ohio); and Steve Moore (Md.).
