USDA's Rural Utilities Service along with the Commerce Department's National Telecommunications and Information Administration announced nearly $5 billion in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grants and loans to expand broadband access and adoption on Friday. The rules have been modified since the first funding round to make the application process easier and to better target program resources.
Applications will be accepted between Feb. 16 and Mar. 15, with awards announced Sept. 30.
The application process will be reviewed and questions taken from prospective applicants at a series of public workshops. For more information, visit www.broadbandusa.gov.
