Analyst Group Predicts Corn, Soybean Crops

Informa Economics says 2006-07 corn crop to hit 11.151 billion bushels, soybeans could top 3.2 billion bushels.

Estimates of the 2006-07 crop are coming in with the latest reported by Informa Economics. That group says U.S. corn production for the period will hit 11.151 billion bushels with an average yield of 155.2 bushels per acre, according to information release Thursday.

The firm also estimates the soybean crop at 3.206 billion bushels, or about 43.4 bushels per acre. USDA's September report estimated corn production at 11.114 billion bushels (154.7 bushels per acre); the soybean production estimate was 3.093 billion bushels (41.8 bushels per acre).

Next Thursday, USDA will release its next corn and soybean reports. The 2005 U.S. corn crop hit 11.112 billion bushels at 147.9 bushels per acre, and soybean production reached 3.086 billion bushels with a yield of 43.3 bushels.
