An agribusiness trade and investment mission is wrapping up this week in the African nation of Ghana. A delegation of U.S. farm and business leaders met with their counterparts from 10 Western and Central African countries.
Constance Jackson of the U.S. Foreign Agricultural Service says the meeting brought together a wide spectrum of industries ranging from dried grocery buyers to renewable energy and food processing to meat and poultry. This is the third such mission to Africa recently.
"Trade doesn't happen between countries; it doesn't happen between governments," Jackson says. "It happens between individuals and companies that find an economic opportunity by collaborating and working together at forming those kinds of joint ventures."
