25X'25 to Release Analysis of Cap-and-Trade

Group seeks to improve perspective on impact of climate legislation.
Compiled by staff
Published: Aug 24, 2009

While much of the Congressional focus is on health-care reform, the 25X'25 Alliance is taking steps to provide a wide-ranging objective assessment of cost changes associated with the move to a low-carbon future under a cap and trade system. 25x'25 and the University of Tennessee Bio-Energy Analysis Group are conducting a new independent assessment of the various climate change policy scenarios. The goal of the study is to provide an improved perspective of the impact climate change legislation will have on farm and forest impacts.

Results of the first phase of the 25x'25/University of Tennessee study will be released on Sept. 15. As for the numbers already being tossed around, 25X'25 urges all stakeholders to remain patient, and to stay focused on facts that do not come from predisposed opinions and can bear scrutiny under the rigorous standards for independent review and analysis.
