What's a Building Worth?

Assess the long-term value of a building for use or rental.

Considering putting up a new building and want to know its annualized costs? Perhaps you are considering building space that you already have. Kevin Dhuyvetter and Troy Dumler of Kansas State University put together a simple spreadsheet for determining the annualized cost of any building that you have, or are considering constructing. The spreadsheet helps you know the value of the building, either for use or for rental, making it a valuable took for your computer tool chest.

We’re featuring the spreadsheet as our Farm Futures Spreadsheet of the Month. The 159 kilobyte spreadsheet should work with Excel 2000, 2002, 2007 or Excel XP. You can download it by clicking on the link below.

Do you have a spreadsheet that’s made a difference on your operation that you’d be willing to share with other readers? Drop us a line at FarmFutures@farmprogress.com with a description of the spreadsheet. We’ll pay $75 if we feature your farmer-written non-commercial program as our Spreadsheet of the Month.
