U.S. Poultry Could Return to Russia Soon
Few details, but reports are that U.S. will exclude chlorine from products for Russia.
Compiled by staff
Published: Apr 15, 2010
U.S.
government and poultry industry officials say they have agreed to a new approach on talks to resolve a trade dispute with
Russia
over its ban on
U.S.
chicken. A memorandum the USA Poultry and Egg Export Council sent to its members late last week said USDA and
USTR
officials briefed USAPEEC and National Chicken Council leaders on a new development in the talks.
U.S.
officials are not talking, because this new approach is somewhat sensitive. The cleared advisors are not permitted to provide details at this time. However, Russian news agency Interfax quotes the head of
Russia
's consumer protection agency as saying
U.S.
poultry producers have agreed to exclude chlorine from products destined to
Russia
