Syngenta Launches New Nexgrow Alfalfa

Nexgrow is name of a new brand that incorporates Syngenta and NK alfalfa varieties.

Forage Genetics International and Syngenta have launched Nexgrow, a new brand of alfalfa that includes all existing Syngenta and NK varieties plus new alfalfa varieties to be introduced in the future.

FGI is one of the world's leading alfalfa seed providers. The Nexgrow brand will be managed by FGI and sold through existing Garst, Golden Harvest or NK seed dealers. The announcement of the Nexgrow launch was made by Syngenta officials June 20 at the 2012 Farm Progress Hay Expo at Boone, Iowa.

"This new brand of alfalfa will bring growers the traits and technology they need," says Brent Johnson, Nexgrow alfalfa brand manager. "The only change for growers is the new brand name. Growers will still have the same great service through their Garst, Golden Harvest or NK brand alfalfa reseller when purchasing alfalfa seed for planting."

Nexgrow promises top yield potential, forage quality, persistence

Johnson says Nexgrow alfalfa brings growers the same top yield potential, high forage quality and exceptional persistence of stands they have come to expect from Syngenta and NK brand alfalfas—now under a unified name. Until now, Syngenta's conventional alfalfa varieties carried the Syngenta brand name and Roundup Ready varieties were marketed under the NK brand.

"Nexgrow alfalfa has all of growers' favorite Syngenta and NK brand varieties, plus seven new varieties," says Grant Ozipko, Syngenta crop portfolio head. "Grower favorites like 6422Q, top winner at World Dairy Expo's 2011 World Forage Analysis Superbowl, will be available along with varieties that are glyphosate tolerant or highly resistant to potato leafhopper."

The new Nexgrow brand brings together the Syngenta and NK alfalfa varieties, creating a one-stop, go-to alfalfa brand for growers, says Brent Johnson (left), Nexgrow alfalfa brand manager. This brings clarity to the marketplace, adds Grant Ozipko (right), head of Syngentas crop portfolio.
