Picture This: Images from Husker Harvest Days
Thousands descend on show to see the latest technology for farmers.

If pictures could really tell a story, the photos you’ll see here tell a tale of optimistic farmers and families out to see the sights and kick the tires at one of the nation’s premiere farm shows. For three days in mid September we set out to capture the flavor of Husker Harvest Days, which took place as always at Grand Island, Neb. If you missed it, don’t worry: then next one takes place in just 11 months. Mark your calendar for Sept. 13-15, 2011.
Mounted officials with friendly faces greeted early morning visitors at the 2010 Husker Harvest Days to help move cars quickly to parking spots.
Farm show officials like to remind folks that HHD is a 'walking show' – and that can be quite an adventure for those with short legs. Then again, nothing's better than a day just for dad and daughter.
A large and enthusiastic crowd came to Husker Harvest Days despite spotty weather that postponed the opening of day two. The event draws visitors from over 40 states.
High-tech: Many exhibitors use high-tech tools in their displays. This Pioneer Hi-Bred greeter was using an Apple IPad, to conduct surveys.
Farmers at the show appeared to be in good spirits as they looked ahead to an easier harvest than last year.
Syngenta had several professional masseuses on hand to help relieve every day aches and pains.
Ron Knodel, a professional horse wrangler, appears to have his hands full here during one of several wild horse gentling sessions.
John Holman of Clay Center, Neb. offered up stock dog demonstrations four times each day.
There's one universal truth for any farm show: Farmers love to size up new trucks.
If Dr. Joe Jeffrey, a Lexington, Neb. veterinarian and the popular narrator of Husker's cattle handling demos looks unfazed by a marauding steer, it's because he's been moderating these shows since 1988.
From paintings and jewelry to pottery and lawn ornaments, the Craft Tent was packed with folks looking for just the right touch around the house.
The folks in the familiar orange vests were on hand to be sure visitors to the field demonstrations remained safe during harvest and other operations.
Husker is one of the few places farmers can go see new equipment at work in the field.
This Deere combine was pulling a cob collector made by Vermeer.
Each show brings bigger and more sophisticated equipment for farmers to eyeball during field demonstrations. This year was no exception.
Local bands provided plenty of music and entertainment inside many exhibitors' tents.
How strong are you? Hundreds of young men came along to get a chance to ring the bell and win a prize.
A bull market in corn and positive outlook for the farm economy put both farmers and exhibitors in a good mood.
