U.S. continues to take steps to normalize beef trade throughout the world. On Monday the Jamaican Ministry of Agriculture lifted its ban on U.S. beef products.

Prior to the ban put in place after last December's finding of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), U.S. beef and beef products exports to Jamaica totaled $4.3 million in 2003.

"This action demonstrates Jamaica's commitment to trade in beef and beef products based on internationally accepted scientific standards for human and animal health," says Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman.
