During today's Food Dialogues in New York, the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance announced the nine finalists for its Faces of Farming and Ranching program, a nationwide search launched earlier this summer to help put real faces on agriculture. Here the are:

Chris Chinn, Missouri

Will Gilmer, Alabama

Daphne Holterman, Wisconsin

Brenda Kirsch, Oregon

Tim Nilsen, California

Eric McClam, South Carolina

Katie Pratt, Ill.

Bo Stone, North Carolina

Janice Wolfinger, Ohio

With more than 100 applications received, these passionate farmers are dedicated to telling their stories to consumers. And as many as four winners will become the face of agriculture and be tapped to share their stories and experiences on a national stage to help "shift the conversation about food production and set the record straight about the way we feed our nation."

In a press statement, Bob Stallman, chairman, USFRA comments: "The nine candidates selected reflect the extent of diversity in agriculture across the nation. These exceptional farmers and ranchers can bring the reality of farming and ranching to the forefront for consumers, mainstream media and influences to develop a relationship and learn more about how food gets from the farm or ranch to their plates."

Starting today at 1:30 Eastern Time through December 15, people can visit www.fooddialogues.com to learn more about each of the nine finalist and the work they do. Consumers, farmers and ranchers are asked to vote for who they believe best represents those across the country who work to bring food to the table. Beyond a popularity contest, the nine finalists will also face a panel of judges who will interview and evaluate them to help determine the winners of the Faces of Farming and Ranching. The winner will be announced in early January.
