Dairy Beef Conference Offered Nov. 2-3

People who work in the dairy beef industry - producers, consultants and educators -- can mark their calendars now for a valuable conference to be held Nov. 2-3 in
Rochester

Minn.
According to Jeff Lehmkuhler, Extension beef cattle specialist at the
University
of
Wisconsin-Madison
, this meeting will focus on academic research related to dairy beef production and expertise from industry professionals and producers. Extension and industry representatives are working together to offer this program.
Topics will include an overview of nutrient requirements for dairy beef steers, amino acid nutrition of the young dairy calf, forage to concentrate ratios, ethanol co-product use, recommended implant strategies, responses to ractopamine, meat quality from dairy steers, market aspects related to Holstein steers, housing considerations, grazing Holstein steers, calf health, impact of colostrum and milk replacer on immunity. Also an exhibition will allow participants to interact with industry representatives.
The meeting will be at the Kahler Grand Hotel,

It is sponsored by the North Central Region 206 Feedlot Committee and the 4-State Dairy Management members. Lehmkuhler and Robert Tigner,
