Crave Brothers Farmstead Cheese received an inaugural Supplier Award from Whole Foods Market  on May 22 in Austin, Texas.

Crave Brothers Farmstead Classics are a family of award-winning cheeses, produced using 100% green power. The cheeses are made at their state-of-the-art factory using milk from the Crave Brothers Dairy Farm. Through the use of bio-digesters, Crave Brothers power their farm, factory and over 300 surrounding homes.

Receiving the Cheese Category Supplier Award, Crave Brothers Farmstead Cheese was also recognized for green farming practices. The farm uses water conservation and has achieved negative carbon status.

The Crave family grows soybeans, corn and alfalfa to feed their Holstein cows. From the manure digester to water recovery, sustainability is top-of-mind on the farm. Every pound of cheese made by George Crave, a licensed cheese maker, is made with milk from the family’s herd.

“We really appreciate the hard work and partnership [with Whole Foods Market] through the years,” said Cathy Strange, Whole Foods Market global cheese buyer. “The commitment and initiative are amazing.”
