Convert Wet Corn into Dry Bushels

This handy spreadsheet makes conversions easy when drying grain.

Much of the 2009 corn crop went straight to the dryer after crossing the scales, and then into the bin. Moisture levels were high across most areas of the Midwest, even those areas that don't traditionally need to worry about drying their corn. Farm Futures created a spreadsheet to assist you in keeping your ledger straight. It will convert your original quantities, whether they are bushels or pounds of corn from a scale ticket, into final bushels for your ledger sheet after a change in moisture.

We’re featuring the spreadsheet as our Farm Futures Spreadsheet of the Month. The 32-kilobyte spreadsheet should work with Excel 2000, 2002 or Excel XP. You can download it by clicking on the link below.

Do you have a spreadsheet that’s made a difference on your operation that you’d be willing to share with other readers? Drop us a line at FarmFutures@farmprogress.com with a description of the spreadsheet. We’ll pay $75 if we feature your farmer-written non-commercial program as our Spreadsheet of the Month.

Great little program, especially this year when all corn went in wet and the elevator stored corn is taken down to 14% or 14.5%.  Used this little gem to get dry corn yield at 15%  for insurance and FSA, etc.  Every little bushel helps.
