The Buzz: USDA Numbers May Confuse

Market already making adjustments that government projections won’t pick up in June.
Compiled by staff
Published: Jun 4, 2012

USDA updates its forecasts for 2011 and 2012 crop supply and demand on June 12. But these numbers won’t reflect what the market is thinking about both old crop feed demand and new crop production. That could create volatile trading when the reports are released, because markets will be trading the data live, in real time. Market Analyst Arlan Suderman and Senior Editor Bryce Knorr discuss their outlook for the reports, along with the latest weather news and crop ratings.
