The rise of Brazil as a major supplier of key commodities to the world market has been a modern market miracle, but understanding the impact of the crop grown below the equator and what it means to the American farmer is a challenging puzzle. Farm Futures Market Analyst Arlan Suderman will help solve the puzzle with the aid of Joao Carlos Kopp, a Brazilian market analyst and broker who is traveling to the 2012 Farm Progress Show.

You can hear their conversation either Tuesday or Wednesday of the 2012 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa. They'll be on stage at the Wallaces Farmer Hospitality Tent at the corner of Sixth and Central. Kopp writes the Letter from Brazil feature which appears occasionally in Farm Futures.

The Tuesday conversation starts at 10 a.m. as Suderman and Kopp explore potential production in Brazil, how the next corn and soybean crop is shaping up and more.

The Wednesday conversation starts at Noon, with a second round of talk on the hot topic of the day - the Brazilian market.

"Understanding how the U.S. and Brazilian market interact in global trade is increasingly important for today's business farmer," Suderman says. "Joao and I will hold a global conversation about production in Brazil, how the U.S. drought will impact global trade, and the impact of uncertainty in Europe."

U.S. farmers have been impacted by a range of factors in the past year, from the bankruptcy of MF Global to continued weakness in the Euro and worries about the stability of the Eurozone. Brazil even suffered a severe drought for its first-crop corn this year. However, timely rains made a difference on the second crop. Yet questions remain about how much Brazil can make up in the next six months in the face of the lowest yielding U.S. crop since 1995.

Suderman and Kopp will discuss this and other issues, along with answering audience questions during the show. Make plans to stop by the Hospitality Tent to hear their conversation and learn more about how global influences can alter your farm's paycheck.

And keep up with all things going on at the 2012 Farm Progress Show at www.FarmProgressShow.com.
