USDA Rural Development along with the Farm Service Agency and Forest Service will hold a public meeting to discuss implementation of renewable energy programs authorized under the 2008 Farm Bill on Sept. 4, 2008.

"Continuing to develop renewable energy is a key component of President Bush's strategy to reduce America's dependence on foreign oil," Agriculture Under Secretary for Rural Development Tom Dorr says. "This meeting is an opportunity for business owners, citizens and agricultural producers to discuss the best ways to harness the untapped renewable energy resources in rural areas."

The meeting will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Jefferson Auditorium at the USDA Building in Washington D.C. Pre-registration is encouraged, but not required. Anyone who wants to speak or present at the meeting should contact Robin Robinson at robin.robinson@wdc.usda.gov or (202) 690-4730. For more information about the meeting, click HERE.
