Agco Maps Its Tier 4 Final Emission Strategy

Company's e3 SCR systems will adorn Agco diesels into the 2014 Tier 4 Final era, with some EGR.

Agco officials announced today their equipment will be fitted with selective catalytic reduction technology to meet final Tier 4 EPA emission standards, and will use some exhaust gas recirculation injection in specific models to ensure compliance with clean air standards.

Martin Richenhagen, Agco CEO, says the e3 SCR system introduced by the company in 2009 helps produce the power farmers need while complying with exhaust standards and will continue to b.e the backbone of the company's emission-control equipment into the future. The use of cooled EGR is likely in certain models and geographies to meet emission targets and to minimize diesel exhaust fluid consumption.

Matt Rushing, Agco's director of product management for global electronics and engines, says customers can expect there will not be any changes to the way they operate and maintain their future Tier 4 Final Agco equipment and that their Agco Power engines will operate efficiently delivering total fluid economy (diesel fuel and DEF) that meets or exceeds the same fluid consumptions as in the company's Tier 4 Interim machines.

Richenhagen says this is the best solution for both Agco customers and the environment. "Our e3 solution delivers exactly what modern agriculture demands -- cleaner emissions, improved economics and reliable performance."
