FACTSim Coordinator John VanSickle filed this report on Week 5:

We had some problems this past week with FACTSim resulting from an upgrade in computer hardware we tried to install. As it turns out, the hardware was not compatible to some of the programs that manage the data flow. We lost much of last week’s trading data and had to start back where we were before the week started. We are still working on the upgrade but now have 2 systems operating with the upgrade taking place when we are certain of its impact.

Team Standings
I will continue following a practice in the SEMC competition of not publishing the names of teams or individuals that lose money in their trading activities. The five teams that have registered a profit thus far in the competition are:

1)      LA Tigers (LA)                       $177,446

2)      Okaloo Farm Traders(FL)         $73,510

3)      Florida Milk Money(FL)           $22,900

4)      Air Team 2009(MA)                 $18,352

5)      Ford Cotton09 (AL)                    $5,841

The LA (Louisiana) Tigers lead the competition on the back of Lance Bruce who has accumulated profits of $215,585. He has earned most of his profits day trading grains. Okaloo Fram Traders is second in the competition with profits of $73,510, followed by Florida Milk Money, AIR Team 2009 and Ford Cotton09.

Individual Standings
We  have 33 traders who have taken the plunge and have registered trades in the competition. Of these, 14 traders show a profit in the competition and 19 show a loss. The top 10 traders in the competition at this time are:

1)      Lance Bruce, LA Tigers                                  $215,585

2)      Eric Evers, Okaloo Farm Traders                     $62,052

3)      Tim Doggett, AIR Team 2009                          $44,877

4)      Scott McAdams, Florida Milk Money              $24,385

5)      Neal Isbell, Ford Cotton 09                              $20,650

6)      Gerald Edmondson, Okaloo Farm Traders       $10,280

7)      John Campbell, Volunteer One                           $8,250

8)      Bruce Ward, Invest-A-Gators09                        $6,165

9)      Jack Seaquist, AIR Team 2009                           $5,275

10)  Tammy McKinley, Volunteer One                   $3,007

Lance Bruce has earned much of his profit day trading grains and has taken a clear lead in the competition. I have asked all traders to not day trade until we get our system upgrade installed. There is a distinct leader in the competition with Lance Bruce, but I expect there to be significant changes as the weeks progress. I am sure Lance will continue to excel but I expect others to make a run on his standing.
