I'm prejudiced, as I've said here in the past, but Husker Harvest Days is a favorite show of mine. Sadly, a scheduling conflict is taking me away from this year's big event which runs Tuesday, Sept. 15 through Thursday, Sept. 17. However, I give this show one of my highest recommendations.

Farmers line up to see corn harvesting demos at Husker Harvest Days; these are from the 2008 show.

First, you'll see equipment here you'll not see anywhere else. The irrigation focus of this show is such that some of the hottest technology for water management usually makes a debut here. From high-tech remote sensing tools to improvements in distance management for irrigation pivots; all these technologies debuted at this show.

Second, you'll see crops in demonstration you don't get to see everywhere either. From twin-row corn to forage harvesting demonstrations, you can see a lot of equipment in action and based on what I've been hearing about the weather near Grand Island, you're going to see some great-looking corn harvested.

There's plenty of information about the show, how to get there and what you'll see at the show's Web site - HuskerHarvestDays.com and I encourage you to check it out. From directions to information about hotels; you'll find it there. You can also visit our Husker Facebook Fan Page And take a moment to share a comment or two below if you have a chance (registered users can do that). We'd love to hear from you.

Chances are you're going to see equipment being introduced to the market for the first time; you'll get to check out the latest in seeds and biotechnology; and there will be new information about top crop protection products on the market. This is truly a one-stop shop you can check out.

So make plans to head to Husker Harvest Days - the weather forecast is looking good as I write this. I'm going to miss my annual visit to Grand Island this year; but I'll be back next year. It's just too much fun not to go.
