Unfavorable Harvest Weather!

My focus is on harvest, and like every other farmer, the weather.

I think the increase in technology fees for Monsanto products is causing farmers to reconsider their seed purchase strategy. Another consideration is if we truly are going to have yields increasing 40-100% in 10 to 20 years, then what are the infrastructure investments that we will need including equipment, transportation and storage? We are in the evaluation process of increasing our harvesting and grain handling capacity for next year and beyond.

Harvest is moving along at a slower than normal pace with light rain and unfavorable harvest weather. We are fortunate to be 75% harvested on soybeans and 33% on corn. We harvested some 19% corn last week but most corn is 24%.

It seems we have worked more at night than in the daylight.
